Good Sleep Position to Prevent Stomach Acid Goes Up

Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) or often referred to as acid reflux and gastric acid pain is a condition in which stomach acids back up from the stomach into the esophagus down to the base of the mouth. It is strongly influenced by gravity. Sleeping position with the head lower will be easier for the reflux of stomach acid into the esophagus. This is because the stomach is in a position almost parallel to the channel on it.

The best way to cope with reflux because sleeping position is to make heads in a higher position, while maintaining the comfort of rest. Sleeping position adjustment can be done by positioning the head about 15-16 cm higher than the body.

The easiest way is to pile up the pillows used on the head. When setting this position, do not forget to make the angle between the head and the body to support the back and neck. Do not let the neck bent too sharply, because it will cause muscle pain. Not only that, the position of the neck is bent too sharply will also hit the stomach, which can cause reflux.

Other positions could also be an alternative is sleeping sloping / facing to the left. Why to the left? Because the stomach is located in the left abdomen, so with that hull will be in a position lower than the channels on it, although only slightly.
